Warm Spring Thoughts to All of our Quilting Friends,

As usual, we have lots of exciting quilt news to share with you this quarter. We heard from many of you that you are cleaning out that old UFO stack so that you can have fun with new projects this spring. It appeared to us that many of you kept your New Year's resolutions, and it was fun to see the quilts come out of the closet and be brought to life as you added the finishing touches. Well, to reward you for your great cleaning efforts, we have a fresh line-up of samples, fabrics, books and classes we hope you'll love. For starters, Terry Atkinson has written a new book called Spring Cleaning. Terry will help you clean out your stash and create many fun new projects, including pieced quilt backs. We will be hosting the trunk show from Terry's new book during our SPRING CLEANING SALE, April 6 - 12. Autographed copies of the book will be available during the sale, and with 20%-off fabric and selected books and patterns this event is a clean sweep!

Other spring quarter highlights include a special one-day retreat with Heather Mulder of Anka's Treasures. Dawn Kraayenbrink from St. Cloud Associated Sewing will demonstrate the Grace Machine Quilter at our shop Saturday, April 5. We are delighted again to have Linda Hohag of Brandywine Designs teach her popular starch method applique, featuring her "Critter Quilt" collection. New project classes include: a hands-on demo class featuring the "Whimsy" quilt found in Darlene Zimmerman's new book Granny Quilts; "Baby Puzzle" (also found in the Granny Quilts book) taught by Mary Havisto; and a wild safari theme "Bear Chase" quilt designed by Glad Creations and taught by Carol Carlson. We also continue our series classes, including the Beginners Series, Nickel Quilts, M & M Sunday, Thangle Thursdays, and 1800's Revival. Remember that our class samples are fully displayed in our classroom just for you, so that you can ponder those that interest you.

We are excited to announce that we will be vending at the Minnesota Quilters Quilt Show at the St. Paul River Center, June 12 - 14. This is our first opportunity to vend there, and we hope many of you stop by our booth. If you have not attended this show, it is an excellent opportunity to see many beautiful judged and non-judged quilts, or to take classes from leaders in the quilting world. The most awesome part of the MQ show experience is the power of the bond between quilters who share such a passion for design, color, and creativity. While at the show, you have the opportunity to become a member, and to learn more about the many events they sponsor during the year. We will host three coach buses directly from our shop to the show. Information on cost, dates and schedules is included in this newsletter. Make your reservations early and leave the driving, registration, and parking to us!

Good luck with your UFO and stash cleaning projects. Remember we'd love a show and tell of these newly completed treasures, and if you go overboard with your cleaning and need more fabric ... we'll leave the light on for you.

Wishing you all the color and hope that spring brings,
  Mary and Rita

INTRODUCING TWO NEW BOMs

ONE/TWO SUNDAY SAMPLER
Travel back in time when you complete this easy-to-piece Thangles reproduction sampler quilt. We have condensed this block-of-the-month program to 6 months (two blocks per month) because the blocks are so easy to piece using 1.5 and 3-inch Thangles. Registration is required, then simply show up on the second Sunday of the month (April through September) between 12:30 and 4:00 and collect your free pattern and fat eighth of reproduction fabric. Use your fat 1/8 any way you like in your blocks, and have one month to complete them. We won't ask to see your completed blocks each month, but we will have a fun show-and-tell in October, including a drawing for those who have completed their sampler in time. The cost is $10.00 and includes all patterns, and six fat 1/8's. You will receive yardage and layout information the first month of the program. See calendar for listing of dates.

QT SIX MONTH MYSTERY QUILT
Our first mystery adventure at QT, this quilt will keep you guessing right up to the last stitch! Pick up your clues on the third Saturday (April through September) between 12:00 and 4:00, complete your sewing step by step, and see if you can guess how it will all come together. The clues are free with the purchase of a mystery kit. You have a choice of two kits—one kit will be made up in earth tones including batiks, and the other will have an 1800's Americana feel. On October 18, join us for a mystery revelation celebration and see just what kind of a sleuth you are! Registration is required. See calendar for listing of dates.
